Let's be 100% real here.

Ross benefits greatly from there being virtually no competition in the rap game nowadays.

BIG came out in arguably the most competitive era in rap music, when every region was creating classics, and was right there with anyone you can name in terms of impact or classic music.

Fred.

Biggie came out when New York needed a savior. And it was him due to Puffy's classic beat stealing. Not his Skill. Which many claimed he lacked.

Hotter than who? Nas? Redman? Not none of them west coast nikkaz, shiit he probably wasn't even hotter than Da Brat in 94.

:wtf:

The history re-writing is out of control in this thread.

"RTD" went 4x platinum with 2x plat singles and 1x gold single. That is more or less exactly as successful/ popular/whatever as the "heavyweights" were back then.

Except the part where Wu came out a year before BIG, and had already taken the world by storm.

No offense, but were you even alive back then? You are pretty much 100% wrong about everything you're saying. Including nobody respecting BIG's skill. That's a blatant lie.

Ross is the better songwriter, the better businessman, and has a ton more classic material than Big(that's not really Biggies fault since he died so early but that doesn't mean its not true). Y'all can't see it now but give it a few more years and you'll see how well the music Ross has dropped in the last 3 years will age.

Its all opinions though

Ross doesnt have an album as highly regarded as RTD or LAD

Ross doesnt have an album as commercially successful as RTD or LAD

Ross doesnt have a single as succesful as Big Poppa, One More Chance, Hypnotize, or Mo Money Mo Problems

Ross doesnt have a guest feature thats as memorable as Flavor in Ya Ear, Victory, Benjamins

What does Ross have better than Biggie besides a better ear for beats?

+ rep for this man.

right now the 3 heavy weights in rap are rick ross, kanye west and lil wayne. lil wayne and YMCMB are a joke. kanye's doing his thing over at GOOD. and rick ross is building up MMG to be a powerhouse.

back in big's day there were countless rappers out there making classics on classics. big was a star out of ALL the talent out there.

if rick ross were to start rapping in the 90s (first off a CO wouldn't even be taken seriously but thats a whole different story) he would be laughed outta the game.

nikka been saying the same shyt since port of miami. in 2 albums big told more stories and than rick ross has over 4 albums and 5 mixtapes.

im :scusthov: @ u nikkas

Hex is preaching the gospel.

They don't want to hear it because they're up in here attempting to RE-WRITE history.

RTD may have eventually went 4x platinum it sure as well wasn't selling like that in the calender year of '94.

Listen dude, I'm 24 and even I remember cats calling BIG a corny ass mu'fukka cause while he was undeniably charismatic he was far from original

n!ggas claiming BIG was first on that mafia shyt like KGR wasn't spittin about italians in 92

and for the record, Wu wasn't taking no world by storm in 93/94. and if they were, they're numbers didn't reflect that. the west had the charts on lock and Above The Rim soundtrack outsold the whole NYC in 94, that's of course up until Big debuted. Wu's influence was more so underground and artistic
