I have a contract law question. Basically I signed a contract but when I wanted to back out the party says that according to the contract I’m on the hook for a bunch of shyt not stated in the contract as well as penalties not stated anywhere. I asked where was it written they have yet to tell me.

a lot of words/terms can have legal consequence that their ordinary meaning would not convey. so just because you don't recognize the hook doesn't mean it's not there. that's why lawyers get paid the big bucks

Make this person take the steps to sue you. If they have a claim you’ll get sued.

At the very least ask them to highlight the section of the agreement where you’re in violation. And where it defines the penalty.
