Can a point guard ever be the best player in the league?

I've never seen a pg given that title by a large majority of basketball fans.

The closest I've seen was Steph a few yrs back, but even then it was at max 50-50.

Why is that? Why aren't point guards ever considered "the best player in the world"?

Quality point guards are a dime a dozen. Other positions are harder to find thus are considered more valuable.
