IMO(Don't know how accurate this is, just a personal observation) Chinese(and Asians in general)people tend to be on both extremes of the physical scale. I remember watching Olympic B-Ball back in the day and their B-Ball team averaged about 6'8 in height. They were really tall(had like 3 seven footers)like Yao Ming. They can also be really small too. This disparity affects the talent pool immensely, even with a pop of over a billion people. Then add culture. As we all know education is paramount. Lastly, the Chinese are generally drawn to Olympic sports(Gymnastics, Swimming).
It can happen though. The process will take a while.
