No offense, but this premise seems blatantly disingenuous.
Like, OP clearly isn’t enthralled with Chuck D, so no amount of “convincing” will change that. In fact, I would venture to guess that OP started this thread NOT to engage in discussions on what people think makes Chuck D great (so as to possibly formulate a new opinion himself), but that he more likely made it simply to argue against anybody who takes that position.
Y'all nigz do that alot "prove to me why so-and-so was so great".....
You can't quantify someone's opinion, especially when that opinion is based off of personal experience (e.g., growing up listening to Chuck D and being influenced by P.E.'s music).

Cube was social commentary. NWA without Cube turned out to be one big minstrel fest. Outside of a few MCs (west Coast Kam) that have strong points in their commentary in gangsta rap, most of the old school west coast gangsta rappers were talented that had

Not sure if OP is trolling or serious, either way, an argument could be made that Chuck ain't the easiest listen, particularly if you didn't grow up on him. Interestingly enough, when I look back on it , Chuck got a lot of memorable lines and a bunch of PE hooks are so ingrained into my consciousness that I forget where they came from, so he definitely left a mark. I remember as a kid 8-9-10 years old saying random shyt like "the rhythm, the rhythm", "bass in ya face", "don't believe the hype (eeeeyaaahhh)", I'd be quick to say "I can't do nuthin for you man" lol I know it may sound corny but literally most of that shyt just magically stuck with you. Truth be told, Chuck coined a lot of phrases and lingo, and don't get me started on Flav.
Speaking from a technical standpoint though, rap evolved so much during the 90's that listening to somebody like Chuck D for a lot of young cats is like watching black and white TV, so I get it. Even with that said, you still have to respect Chuck's voice, his message and his command.

I am NOT denying his importance, I am NOT disputing his legendary and pioneer status...
I am simply asking, if being on beat is a FUNDAMENTAL skill in rapping, can Chuck D...?

You CLEARLY didn't listen to west coast music OR AmerKKKa's Most Wanted. Reality rap, which was the PROPER TERM, was all social commentary, it was the MEDIA that coined it "Gangsta rap" and it clicked.

Not everybody thinks that Chuck D is a good rapper...Expressing this opinion does not make one a troll...
So, people can say 2Pac wasn't a good rapper and get 50 pages worth of daps, and saying Chuck D is type wack is trolling...?

Where is your example for comparison, because anybody can say that about any rapper...
That is as vague as it gets...If I said the same thing about Ballout, my negative reps will be in the minus 1000....

My question to you is, in the context of his content and impact on the game, why does it matter?
Can Jay-Z make a conscious song? No.... but that doesn't have any impact on his legacy.
Like I said... Chuck D was not the greatest technical rapper. But he more than made up for it elsewhere. Chief Keef doesn't. So your comparison/implications are moot.
