sure he is "the best center in the nba now" but that's not saying much....best against who? who's his comp? easy to beast when there are basically only two nice centers in the league...

hate to be the guy to bring up the past but lets be real he would be crushed in the paint if he was going against shaq in his prime, ewing, robinson, zo, hakeem, mutumbo, ehlo

He has the potential to be the Greatest defensive player of all time who's name isn't Hakeem. Right now, he's the 4th best defensive player I've seen after David Robinson, Dream, and KG.

And he's offense is extremely underrated. But you have nikkaz still saying

Shaq's Competetion was garbage from 00-02 but no one says anything about that. Centers were either flabby and sick versions of the 90's ones or flat out garbage

I remember having the SI mag with shaq and ewing on the cover when shaq played his first game against them it was a big deal....

Robinson was still playin and so was Zo and Mutumbo...


Mutumbo helped the 6ers to the chip in 02' playa


Ill take all those mentioned centers in 00-02 over 98% of the centers today....

The thing is that NO ONE is cracking that list, so it's not fair to even ask about him being top 5. He has/had the potential but it's too late unless he goes on some crazy 10 year run. The thing is, say he does go on a 10 year run and equals or passes any of these mentioned centers, because of his personality, his dealings with the Magic situation and the fact that he fell out of favor with basketball fans and pundits, he will get slighted anyway. Top 10 is more reasonable.

no, even top 10 is doubtful, but at least there are lanes to get there.

He just doesn't have the offense to get that respect...say what you want about Shaq's comp in the early 2000's, but he was shytting on prime HOFers along the way in the 90s
