Can I ask a question about promotions in the workplace?

So....at my job...we basically have unlimited overtime. It could possibly last for a long time.

Now..if you're promoted....you can't do overtime...but....what would you rather do?

Promotion, more vacation time, opens door into management and a higher base salary.

Or

Unlimited overtime and less responsibility?

But ummm yea then id say it would depend on the salary vs how much you could make doing OT

promotion looks better on resume and will get u farther later than the little bit extra ur making now. unless ur saving all that overtime money, id go the promotion route.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking

If I made 20k in OT...they got to at least gimme half of that ish

Promotion is better because it opens the door to more opportunities

For example you'll be doing more work/different type of work. It'll also open the door for you to learn skills you never had before.

So if that da
y ever comes and you want to bounce you can get a job with a higher position than leaving and you're stuck at a lower level.

Ot is good as a short term stack option to rebuild savings, make a purchase, etc.

Long term, go for the promotion. You don't want to burn yourself out working OT all the time and end up missing the promotion because your employer feels as if you're a better fit in your current position.
