Can LeBron really be the GOAT with both 2011 and 2014 on his resume?

Even if you wanna give him a pass for the losses to Golden State those losses to Dallas and San Antonio are :picard:

2011 is one of the greatest upsets in league history and 2014 is the biggest ass whooping in Finals history
Ehhh...2014 that Heat team was on fumes and the Spurs were playing some of the best basketball ever.

2011 is a bad look.

I can understand someone having a problem with 2007 more than 2014. Primarily because LeBron shot so poorly and a couple of those games were close/there for the taking.

What a asinine question

He isn’t the GOAT and his fans quietly understand this. They understand how cruel the world can be. A bad go of it in the offs doesn’t disqualify him solely…that’s just what it is in totality.

No differently than some people believe The Rolling Stones is the greatest band but they accept it’s a contrarian opinion to public at large

Many people can be argued to be the GOAT. :manny:
Don't take my word for it, listen to this great analyst:

What are the best arguments to argue that James Harden is the best basketball player of all time?

GPT-4

Arguing that James Harden is the best basketball player of all time involves highlighting several key aspects of his career and contributions to the game. Here are some arguments that could be made in support of this claim:
  1. Scoring Ability: Harden is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. He has consistently averaged over 25 points per game throughout his career and has led the league in scoring multiple times. His ability to score from anywhere on the court, including three-point range, makes him a unique offensive threat.
  2. Playmaking Skills: In addition to his scoring, Harden is an exceptional playmaker. He has averaged over 7 assists per game for much of his career and has led the league in assists. His vision and ability to create opportunities for teammates set him apart from many other scorers.
  3. Versatility: Harden's versatility allows him to play multiple positions effectively. He can score, facilitate, and rebound, making him a well-rounded player who can impact the game in various ways.
  4. Efficiency: Harden has consistently posted high efficiency ratings, including impressive shooting percentages from the field and the free-throw line. His ability to draw fouls and convert free throws adds to his scoring efficiency.
  5. Impact on the Game: Harden's style of play, particularly his use of isolation and step-back three-pointers, has influenced the way the game is played today. He has helped popularize certain offensive strategies that many teams now employ.
  6. Individual Accolades: Harden has received numerous individual awards, including the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, multiple All-Star selections, and All-NBA Team honors. These accolades reflect his dominance and recognition by peers and analysts.
  7. Playoff Performances: While some critics point to his playoff performances, there have been several instances where Harden has delivered outstanding performances in crucial games, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
  8. Longevity and Consistency: Harden has maintained a high level of performance over many seasons, demonstrating durability and consistency that is often required for consideration as the greatest of all time.
  9. Team Success: While team success is often a factor in GOAT discussions, Harden has led his teams to deep playoff runs and has been a key figure in the success of the franchises he has played for, particularly the Houston Rockets.
  10. Cultural Impact: Beyond statistics, Harden's influence on basketball culture, including his signature style and off-court persona, has made him a recognizable figure in sports.
While these arguments can be compelling, the debate over the greatest basketball player of all time is subjective and often includes other legends like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and others. Each player's legacy is shaped by different factors, and opinions will vary based on personal preferences and criteria for greatness.

I mean statistically he will reign but overall consensus is still MJ. MJ done more in less time never went to a game 7. Even if he stretches his career and win 6 rings it will look like it took you that long to get 6 rings. Do I think he is one of the GOATs as far as conditioning and longevity? Yes.

“Greatest player of all time” had multiple finals games with 0-2 points in the 4th and took 1-4 shots in those games :unimpressed:

After forming a super team in a weak ass conference and Bragging about winning 6-7

Nobody in their right mind thinks Lebron James is the greatest basketball player ever.dude has team hopped 4x with multiple all stars/top 5 picks and still couldn’t win more than Mike, magic,Kobe,Russell,Duncan
