every time I try to learn I just get anxious and go do something else :francis:
This is really common in chess. It usually happens when people's ego is wrapped up in their chess performance. Instead of focusing on intelligence or "hoW mAnY mOvE aHeAd YoU cAn CaLcuLaTe" and shyt like that, you need to focus on studying and improving.

Focus on tactics, positional play, analyzing your own games and annotated games of masters. Then go out and try to apply what you learned. Use your mistakes to guide your studying. Favor longer games (10-30+ minutes on both sides) and play the faster stuff as throwaway games for fun. Then it becomes less about intelligence and more about how much you're willing to apply yourself to your learning endeavor.

Like I know a n1gga that did 30yrs in prison and he's good at it, but every time I try to learn I just get anxious and go do something else :francis:
It's just rote memorization to get intermediate lvl at chess. So you are fine. Just an investment of time for memorizing possible starting and ending positions of board pieces

If you have time you could pick this up whenever

I taught all my kids how to play. The most important thing is memorizing how each piece moves not just for yourself but for your opponent.

So many newbies try to strategize and get frustrated. My 9 year old can hold her own with no strategy. She just memorizes what each piece does and watches her opponent and makes the moves “for them” in her head. And she has the attention span of a gnat - no joke.

You can do it, breh. Chess is a great game for bonding so if you have friends/family you need to talk to and have an important convo with do it over a game of chess ♟️

So I downloaded a game on my iohone, and now know how all the pieces move. Only played 2 beginner games. Loss the 1st one. In the 2nd gm I took all the pieces except his king. I had a pawn, queen and rook along with my king and this piece of shyt of a gm called a draw/stalemate:dahell:
