I'm on the lower percentile of avg intelligence and never learnt it or gambling games.

gotta add this classic clip for thread entertainment.

Fresh The Movie (1994) - Put the clock on them

Chess is proof that intelligence aint as important as confidence, will and determination in life. Most of them great chess players seem like lonely lunatics. Breh in his trailer with a kid thinkin to himself lord don't let this be me

IQ not a benchmark for intelligence.

intelligence is how efficiently you process info, not how much info you retain.

Hmm you know what a lot of us put intelligence in the ability to retain which is definitely wrong.

I think so.

I always felt everyone is or can be a genius in something.

It’s not always about what you know but how you think

I mean yes. Back during the AOL days I had a CD game of chess. I was like 14-15 of age playing against an AI chess player on like low medium level. I likely have reg IQ but I did beat it eventually.

The AI kept going around in circles trying not to get caught similar to the last piece in a game of checkers. That irked me so much I just gave up chess, I prolly would've been a very decent player if I stuck with it tho.

First of all, you need to define what you mean by "good". I have a FIDE rating of above 2200+ so for me a good player will either be an International master or Grandmaster level player.

So there needs to be a defined rating range.

The 2 most important qualities to have to be a good chess player are a love for the game and a great memory.

What is considered intelligence is very subjective. Some of the best chess players of all time were not very intelligent people outside the world of chess.

Intelligence is like talent. You can have it and still suck at something, and you can "lack" it and still be good at something through training and consistency.

I got proof a dumb mutha fukka can excel in chess

I had a buddy fancy himself as a chess master. I never bragged about how real i keep it. Ended up crushin him so bad i think he closed his browser *by accident* because the game just stopped as his team was getting bodied. He never asked me to play again. I dont play for checkmate, i play to annihilate the whole team.

Yes. Getting good at something is about practicing and getting better one game at a time. Also get a book that teaches you some basic strategies and moves.
