Clout is also used as slang though....yes it's a legitimate word in the dictionary but in hip hop and on the streets it is used a little differently....go and look the word up and you will see that clout also means a piece of cloth or leather or a blow especially with the hand.....

No one's uses NY slang like that anymore...in the 90's was the peak but West Coast slang and Southern slang I will say are now more heavily used....just my take as I'm older and frequented both coast alot....
