The roc you b*stards. The end.
Dame made Cam VP of Rocafella, and Jay-Z didn't fukk with Cam like that and didn't like the move. Cam and Dame were boys since time from Harlem.
Just take a look at this awkward interview when Cam dropped Come Home With Me in 2002
Keep in mind Jay was featured on the album too, but still you can see the tension.
lol i misss this jayz
cant front
jay said why alreadystill don't have a definite answer lol but these are all interesting responses
Rocafella was bein sued by Ducktales cartoon franchise for copywrite infringment, can't find the link tho, if I find it I'll post it
I personally didn't see it as a breakup, I just saw that Jay-Z grew older and mature and didn't want to deal with a loud Dame screaming on everyone, being a nikka, not allowing people to make mistakes (imagine working for a boss that won't allow you to mess up). He just wanted to do his own thing, become more corporate and professional & not split the money 3 ways anymore. It's clear he learned from Lyor, Russ & Kevin Liles.......
and none of that made more money than his roc deal.
Breh.... you have this all types of twisted.
Lyor suckered Jay into sacrificing something that could've been a true conglomerate for being his prized pet.
Dame is a self admitted a$$hole, but what Dame was onto...was something that Lyor gets paid a lot of money to stop from happening.
Think of what Jay could've still had been part owner of... while till having that type of money
a production company, liquor line, two separate stables of rappers, a burgeoning R&B sect,a clothing line.... all gone cause Tall Israeli saw that somebody was trying to own shyt, and not just get paid.

remember def jam owned 50% of rocafella... they sold half years before the split... so it was 3 nikkas, splitting 50% of it... on top of that.. jay was the only one selling besides ye... and he kept ye anyway
so what he lose out on?? he owns a champagne that i'm sure is doing 1500000% better than armandale right now.. he has the sports thing, millions of endorsements, corporate money, and still has a label and management team... that he damn sure owns more than 33% of 50% of
like other people said... he reached the top of where dame could take him, then jumped off that and kept it moving off his own power
was it dirty as a friend... maybe... but he did offer them nikkas all of it for 1 master... THEY fukkED THAT UP...
he didn't even have to offer that... he just did as a friend... they said no... he said ok fukk it, now i'll treat this like a business and end ties... he didn't cheat them... take something... everyone sold.. everyone got paid.. every artist had a choice of where they wanted to go.... he just didn't bring them nikkas along for his next moves... business is business
they already weren't owners tho.... they sold 50% of rocafella a long time ago... those 3 combined, owned just as much as def jam as a company... then add that on top of they are distributed by def jam as well. that's two checks to def jam, 1 check to the roc and you split that check with 3 peopleYou're missing the bigger picture breh and just going with the narrative Jay fans like to go with, he could've had all that... as his own shyt.....it wasn't like Jay reached his ceiling and Dame and co. were holding him back.
To think that Dame,Jay and Biggs couldn't have continued to build,
So what did he lose out on? being an actual Boss of his own shyt....like Baby and Slim.
Lyor Cohen's job is to ensure the employees stay employees...why do you think he's so far up the ladder?
