The thread about the atomic bomb got me thinking

More was a island country like Japan able to bully n conquer to the most populated country in the world and what made them even bold enough to try

And how did China go from a country that let nikkas bully them to a super power in 50 years

China wasn’t China then. It was a combination of feuding regional powers. There was no unified country. It would be like invading Laos today. People in Vietnam would be concerned but they wouldn’t give a fukk really because it wasn’t them that got invaded....they would just be weary to make sure they weren’t next. It was like that. Plus China is not as big as you think. It has a lot of people but, 90% of the population is on the eastern coast. So the entire central and western side of China is mostly smaller cities, farmland and mountains. If you look at its map most of its cities are on the eastern side. If you can take the East, you’ve taken China. Also being a small nation doesn’t mean anything. The British have a similarly sized country and they ruled the world for centuries.

Edit: Japan is actually larger than England :ohhh:

the Japanese pre-WW2 were the worlds fiercest warriors by a mile....it was in their DNA. I really dont know what the fukk happened since then.....I suppose it has something to do with the nukes but they have basically become a wholly androgynous population. Its incredible how they have changed.

Also people forget that Japan was still behind technology wise as well, until the U.S. used military force to open up the country in 1854 after banning foreigners for 200 years. It caused a civil war that had the emperor take power back and modernize the country.

To sum up the reasons Japan was able to do what they did:
The Opium Wars
The Boxer Rebellion
Massive corruption
Behind in technology
Multiple revolts and rebellions
The West fukking with them

How did China become a super power?:
Deng Xiaoping

As a condition of their defeat by the allied powers during world war 2, Japan is no longer allowed to have a military in a traditional sense but only a self defense force or JSDF.

Basically the United states crippled their ability to have a true army.

you can read about it here: Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution - Wikipedia
