Can someone explain the backlash George Lucas got from SW fans?

I'm kinda new to the Star Wars series, and this hatred for Lucas from Star Wars fanatics fascinates me, I mean one day he's a God to them and the next he raped their childhood. What exactly happened? What started this backlash??

Some people feel entitled to have input in other peoples work. While I thought ep.1 wasn't that good, I thought 2 and 3 were much better. Either way I dont understand the overreaction to lucas honestly. I dont like it then fine but im not gonna go around saying dude killed everything I lived for :heh: star trek, star wars, and wrestling fans are the worst. Im nit talking about all, I mean the vocal minority that try to force their displeasure on the rest of us that just take it at face value.

Watch all 3 movie reviews (Phantom, Clones and Revenge) They're lengthy but on point and will tell you everything thats wrong with those awful prequels.

The sad truth people don't realize is Star Wars was always corny campy and made for kids.

The dialogue was always terrible, acting was always bad for the most part, but at the time it came out it was accepted because the world was different, also the visually presentation was leaps and bounds beyond anything that was on film at the time.

The visually effects in the prequels though were new techniques at the time, had no wow factor to the them, so all you had to focus on was the terrible dialogue and bad acting, which was also in the originals.

Unless star wars finds away to revolutionize film making and create a new visual experience for the audience these new movies will be garbage too

pretty much this. And kids still love the prequels too. I don't think there's a need to revolutionize anything this time though. J.J. is not the greatest, but teaming his technical skills with the story arc could be greatness. I think the pace of his movies, atmosphere, air of mythology he creates, and the lessons of the last prequel = a top 3 Star Wars movie coming in 2015. You can see with last Clone Wars series that those people have their heads on straight now.

Episode I was awful..from the plot to casting Jake Lloyd who was an awful actor to the Jar Jar Binks character. The only thing saving that movie were Maul, Qui-Gon, and Kenobi..

Episodes II and III were piff to me though :manny:

Most fans also never forgot that the best Star Wars Film with the best story and dialogue was the film Lucas had the LEAST to do with...Empire Strikes Back

edit: oh yeah, and nikkas will never let go that Han shot first :birdman:

Japan, but from the 989
Han shot first!!! :wtb:

But honestly...if you go back and watch episodes IV-VI, then compare them to the I-III you will see the problem. Then Lucas went out and tried to make too many fukking "Special" editions of the classics. But above all...that fukking Jar Jar Binks...:stopitslime:

He also went back n re released ep 4-6 w corny ass CGI that was wack. Furthermore, he tried to replace the OG versions of those films w the CGI ones so that the OG versions didn't exist anymore.

The only change that he did from the older movies that i liked was changing that alien Emperor in Empire Strikes Back to the real Palpatine...The rest of the changes weren't needed

nah episode 1 was especially terrible. my 6 year old son loves star wars but he didn't really like episode 1 either. people like to put the whole "its for kids" shyt to justify it, but my son hated jar jar and the whole underwater shyt just as much as i did.
