Can someone explain the greatness of Hit Em Up? Because I'm not seeing it...

All I hear is a bunch of wolf tickets, empty threats and a bunch of inappropriate shyt talking. And possibly lying about boning Faith. He basically sealed his own fate. I respect Pac, but I have never gotten the reverance for this song. Never. Great diss tracks are, The bridge is over, No vaseline, Dollahs and Sense etc...not Hit em Up.

Energy, passion, emotion, rawness, aggression, directness, rhythm/flow, dope beat and lyrics. Very catchy chorus, the talking how he does it where it makes it seem like them dudes aren't on his level and it makes it like an experience. Outlawz killed it too and made it seem like an event and a happening. Also flavour and inflections, the visual with the video. I kind of understand why someone wouldn't like it, but personally I love it and think it's an all time classic and arguably the greatest diss song ever, as an actual song you can play over and over. It captured people and their interest by everything he brought together, he went and dissed so many people he had an issue with, all on 1 track and direct, it was entertaining, it was dramatic and it was hyped.

Shock value, audacity, the utter unfiltered disrespect and disregard. And on top of all that it jams.

this

but Against All Odds > Hit Em Up

furthermore; if you ask a random hip hop fan whats the best diss record and they say hit em up...9 outta 10 times all they know is the opening verse...none of the outlawz part (save for maybe fatal if u ask the right person)

They say Pac was putting out so much energy on the outro, he blew a fuse in the mic....the studio equipment started short circuiting and shyt.

Hit Em Up is just a different kind of animal.I understand why it's legendary.

To me, Quik's Dollars & Sense is the best diss record I've ever heard.During that 3rd verse, I was literally cringing & praying that God would have mercy on MC Eiht:mjcry:
