It seems so mysterious when people talk about them you never get a stright answer about them yet for some reason this "organazation" seems to run the league and tell the players what to do

Hell it seems like they run teams like the Knicks

Why do they have some much power? why are players/teams do as they say and go where they want them to go?

They seem more like a mafia then player agency

Is Herb Williams affiliated with CAA? Because with all the Knicks coaches that have been fired, Herb always manages to keep his assistant's job.

It doesn't run the NBA they just run MSG so they get Dolan concert acts and in return he gives their clients first right of refusal for the Knicks. If you're not a CAA client- there's always a chance you're moved for another player. They also negotiate advertising for the Knicks aka the Chase multi million dollar(billion?) deal. CAA makes James Dolan a lot of money basically.
