His fanbase was literally too young to have debit / credit cards for streaming subscriptions, so he distributed a majority of his music through YouTube to democratize access to his catalogs.

He’s the biggest rapper on YouTube, bigger numbers than Drake, Kendrick and Cole.
Ya that makes sense

I'm curious what kind of team he has behind the scenes. Clearly It ain't as simple as just flooding YT with music...

The "how" in his popularity interests me more than the "why" which is pretty simple in terms of his image and aesthetic

There's been a revolving door of rappers in that lane but he's held onto it for a while and is growing his audience as well - it's interesting

He’s truly emeshed in the culture. In terms of the PAC comparisons, I’ve heard stories of folks who are locked up asking their GF’s to play Youngboy songs through the jail phone… it’s a different level of influence.

Not sure there’s a marketing hack here to easily replicate.

:birdman: Beatrice has done it again…this time in the (not so) silent role J. Prince played with Aubrey…apparently Atlantic got frustrated with the last bout of legal troubles and gave Stunna the full reins

Fee Banks, one of Wanyes best friends from back in the day and Kevin Gates’ manager, is his manager also…that’s the “internal” team…not sure what the major label apparatus is at the moment

ATL paid.. Cali blazed
For the longest time I didnt understand the appeal until I rolled a 3.5 gram blunt and hit the road last Friday. I got out the car fully understanding now. He puts out alot of music and if u listen long enough you'll find a handful of shyt that u might like. I started wit Vette Motors and ran that shyt back 3x in a row. From there I went to Tiadal and played his essential Playlist and found more hot shyt. I ain't a fan but I can see the appeal now. And despite alot of the bullshyt he caused on himself he seems like a good dude and he appreciates his fans.

He’s basically “Lil Boosie on steroids”

If you understood Boosie’s appeal with a “certain” demographic, then you should understand youngboy’s appeal to that same demographic

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if most of the parents of Youngboy fans worshipped Boosie, Webbie, Plies and Gucci when they were younger

In which specific ways do you guys think you are superior to people who listen to the artists you mention?
