Can someone explain to me why First Person Shooters are so popular?

disorienting :what:

have u ever played one?

For some people FPS are disorienting. It's usually the same people who are prone to sea and car sickness. No different that people who have seizures from playing games with flashing lights, it's rare but it happens.

I don't know. I was never into FPS until Halo came along. And now I'm bored with the genre.

I like the games that do something unique with it like far cry, bioshock, fallout, ect. But just straight up shooters are no longer interesting to me

i think they are the most user friendly and immersive games there are when done right (Deus Ex, System Shock, Half-Life, etc.) , but they're getting tired as hell with the exception of multiplayer. single player has become a secondary focus for the genre. there are of course exceptions.

the only FPS' i can remember even playing in the last year are Borderlands 2 and Bioshock Infinite. looking forward to that next Half-Life whenever it gets announced.

I think that's' why we've been seeing a renaissance of old school gameplay and art design.

Easy to pick up and do well in them, unlike games like Tekken and Street Fighter where you get destroyed online if you don't know what you're doing

People enjoy them the most and they have the biggest online competitive presence.

There you go, deal with it.

I personally don't play them much, but it's just the way it is.
