Geoff Gaylord walked into a Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff’s Office and admitted to the crime of killing his imaginary friend and then demanded the death penalty.
Gaylord said that he repeatedly stabbed his friend ‘Mr. Happy’ with a kitchen knife, cut him up with a hatchet and then buried him in the backyard. He said that he and Mr. Happy had been friends for 7 years but decided to kill him because “That drunk driving incident I got unfairly blamed for and just how messy he had become put me over the edge and I murdered him.”
During the 7 year friendship with his imaginary friend ‘Mr. Happy,’ Gaylord said that they would “go dancing, playing on the children’s park equipment, both huge fans of doom metal and listened to it for hours with the lights turned off.”
Gaylord was taken into custody when he threatened the police because they wouldn’t give him the death penalty. Upon searching his house, police found drug paraphernalia and a machine gun. He was booked on multiple charges.
