Well, knowing that men have been in charge and setting rules for millenniums now, it's logical that by aiming towards equality, men will face those types of troubles while the society adapts itself. It's nothing to what women face everyday, let's be honest, though it still not fair to the men who are victims of that.
But to answer your question, there will never be true gender equality. Equality whether is is about gender, origins, wealth etc. is impossible. It would require, at least, a totalitarian regime and millenniums of evolution of the human race because we aren't smart enough currently. I don't know much about it but we have archetypes in mind and for example, a pedo or a rapist is mostly a dude, a nurse or a secretary is mostly a woman (yeah I know I just compared crimes with jobs). Things are sexualized and it's hard to overcome this because stats kinda back those archetypes up which are in return reinforced through years of education and societal conditioning.
But really, I'd feel less safe if I'd let my kids with a man than with a woman even if they are both equally qualified childminders. I know it's unfair to the man but I think that's what most of people feel
