They were already there before Columbus. Columbus didn't 'discover' America. He basically stepped over a fence into someone else's backyard.​

Ok..but he discovered it for the other half of the world..that's a big feat..it's like if you were to discover Africa Europe, and Asia right now..you would be a hero

They weren't systematically destroyed.,destroyed yes..but not systematically..most of the indigenous population died from small pox that an african slave brought over to Mexico..Europeans were already immune to small pox because they have lived with live stock their whole life since the Fertile Crescent...diseases come from live stock..the only live stock in Latin America are llamas

No one's saying it wasn't a big feat. But, giving the man credit for 'discovering' this land is a bit much considering it was inhabited by civilized people for centuries before he arrived.

The whole reason the indigenous population is now known as 'indians' is because he actually got lost and thought he was in India.

That took place almost 300 years after the Spanish conquistadors were in the Americas..you think Cortes, Columbus or Pizzaro knew about germ warfare? They didn't ..anyway North America is only a 1/10 of the Native Population during that time..the rest were in the Latin american and the Caribbean

And the Spanish tried to eradicate small pox by setting up hospitals during that time

True..but without them Spain wouldn't be a powerhouse in Europe..maybe I'm biased since I have Spanish ancestry ...but we did need the money..

They probably would go back to them.......if they knew who they were. Nearly all Mexicans of Aztec/Olmec descent don't even know their original languages anymore which is why we still can't decipher what is written on their pyramids.

That never happened ..Columbus accidentally got to the Americas and till his death he thought he was in India.. True the Portuguese and Spanish learned to build boats from Muslim Arabs but they never helped them sail there unless they were ship hands.

And all ancient pyramid societies knew the earth was round they just didn't know how big it was.. Columbus proved that the earth was bigger by 1/3 and it wasn't until Amerigo Vespucci proved it
