Can we agree that Cam's success was supposed to be Big L's

Yep. Nas was a lot better. But he didn't blow up bc of his talent. And who cares whether women like a rapper? We ain't record executives.
I think his point is, even though Nas had no personality (which I don't agree with, but just going by the theory), women still liked him so they bought his records. Just him pointing out that even though Nas might b perceived as "boring", if women like you, it goes a long way in how far you can blow up. Big L didn't really show much personality outside of his music, most of his interviews were snoozefest. He didn't really have much PR training you can tell. He just wanted to rap.
And while Nas ended up much better, when they came out Nas was not better than Big L. Nas even said on Funk Flex show when he first saw Big L perform in 1991 he was scared to death cause he didn't think he'd ever be that good.

Why do people have to pull down one artist to big up another?
Just because they worked together didn't mean anyone stole shine from another. I am surprised no one said that Mase's shine should have been Big L's

I don't agree that Nas has no personality either, but he is a terrible interviewee. Which was the sole criteria offered for why L had no personality.
Never heard that story about Nas and L. Props.
I like Nas interviews when he's engaged. He actually is really dope interview at times. But yeah there can be times, really earlier in his career when he said literally nothing in interviews. Now he's good though
and no problem.
You're right about that too. The interview after Ether won that radio poll. And the one where he went after Cam were great.

lol, honestly I don't even think the Dips join the Roc if L was on the team too. It was bad enough Cam outclassed him in terms of swag, he can't have Big L shyttin on him lyrically too.
