Hip-hop's credibility has already...Reasonable Doubt being forgotten by the mainstream and reduced to being listened to by old heads and young, history-minded gatekeepers would be a huge stain on hip hop's credibility as timeless music if you ask me.

Ye is a better artist than Jay-Z all time. It's not a controversial statement at all. His run from College Dropout to Yeezus (WTT included) music quality wise is legendary. Not one album sounds the same + his influences on modern American pop culture and the reach in audiences he's touched, yeah I thought this s*** was commonly accepted at this point.

Yes, we can. Ye's run from College Dropout through Life of Pablo is untouchable as far as hip hop albums go, and his influence is all over music and pop culture. He's the most influential mainstream artist of the 21st Century thus far. The only Jay albums I like are The Blueprint and The Black Album, and Ye's production is all over many of those tracks.
Anyway, Ye has made a much bigger impact than Jay Z, but people aren't ready to admit that yet.

Jay is the much better rapper by far, but as been mentioned, the 2000's babies forget his catalog before him and Beyonce linked up. The 2000's babies unfortunately set the narrative because culture is youth-obsessed.
That being said, Ye is a much better artist who just lost his fukking mind somewhere around 2012 and has been declining ever since. His impact will be felt far more despite Jay running circles around him lyrically.
