They are pretty impressive. The league is loaded with young talent right now. Give some credit to the coaches too. NBA coaches never used to get so much out of rookies. There are a lot of rookies that are defending very well at this level who never really had defensive reputations in college or high school.

In the playoffs for their rookie seasons Wade was nowhere near Mitchell and Simmons' level, Melo was trash, Bron took 3 years just to make it, Bosh took 4 and was still not playing at their level.

Nah, Mitchell is bigger. Westbrook is more lean. Like you said Mitchell is stocky, his upper body and lower body are brolic son never skipped leg day.

To be fair LeBron was 18 and his supporting cast was not good. Bosh also didn't have a team around him. Simmons and Mitchell are both 21 as rookies like Wade was.
