I don't think there is anything wrong with learning about your culture and history, I always said that we as Blacks in America needed to have a greater knowledge of self. My only issue is that a lot of these guys get there information from tertiary sources like guys on Youtube or TV as opposed to actually popping open African history books and learning from those who are well versed on these subjects. Furthermore when we talk about 'fake hoteps' we are talking about guys who use it as a means of personal gain or for social reasons as opposed to those who are truly about enlightening themselves.
