from my own point of view..... unless you know the history of Africa the white man would have you believe that we were living like apes until they civilised us.....
they actively suppress the teaching and achievements of Africa to this day, they will tell you about the ancient Romans , the Greeks, the Aztecs, Mayans,the Chinese dynasties but they keep quiet about the Nubians, the Zulus, Dogons the Benin kingdom to name a few...
I think the reason why a lot of people focus on Egypt (Kemet) is because rather than just suppress the achievements of ancient Africans as per usual they took it a step further and tried to claim it as their own...

At my job, there's this guy who people would call a hotep, I don't like the term either, but the interactions with him and the what I've read from people who on the web is what I'm going off of. The problem isn't having an interest in African culture, history, or civilization, it's this unjustified sense of superiority combined with an embarrassing misunderstanding of the things they claim to study. They also don't know how to argue without talking down to people. They're pretty much black Muslims 2.0I strongly dislike this post. STRONGLY.
AS an African myself (Nigerian, and West Indian) what is wrong with African Americans wanting to learn about African civilization? African history? African culture? I grew up with it in my household from art to books to dress to traditions...I like seeing it...especially amongst the younger generations cause there's more to our existence than what's here in America...and that should be embraced. SO much of our own history has been whitewashed, destroyed, glossed over, never even touched upon in major schools of thought...I don't understand why any black person would be against it.
And that blog that pic is from disgusts me.
I'd rather embrace my black brothers and sisters in America and break down these barriers that divide us. Than stay divided.
