Even then, the Kinect was just a sideshow, it didn't cut into the flaw of awesome 360 games.

i know ppl trashed ps3 heavy. i didnt buy one until 08 and i was almost dissuaded by all the negativity in the months prior

In hindsight, every generation since the PS2-GC-XBOX generation has gotten increasingly worse.

In terms of eras (gonna declare them based on best console at that time)
PS2 era > 360 era > PS4 era > N64 era > PS5 era (mostly because we're just getting started.)

They say this but i bet they would even be able to play a lot of ps2 and ps1 games these days. There is so much QoL improvements made to games since the early 3d games, none of them hold up that well.

I tried playing mario 64 on the switch and the camera was just unbelievably bad.

You moved a couple of goal posts, but I'll comment on the first point and then the 2nd.

Fight for New York was dope as hell when it came out and probably still is. But it damn sure isn't just better than everything in the past 10 years.

And we can name drop games till the sun comes up and we'd still probably come out with more on top for PS4. If nothing less, a multitude that are just as on par as any you'd list.

Obviously the PS2 era can't compare to what's out now but the PS2 era was pretty much gold from start to finish. I don't think we've seen a system hit it's stride like that ever since

I’d switch the PS4 with the N64 era
