Can we have a honest discussion about Nelly and "Country Grammar?"

Haven't listened to this album in a long time, heard somebody playing "E.I." earlier and ended up playing the whole album just now. This shyt is a lot harder than I remember, with more gun talk and doggin these hoes. I can't believe he had a diamond selling debut album, but is rarely if ever mentioned today. nikka even had a Wayne feature before anybody else.

Wtf happened to this Nelly? If you could sell 9 mill off just being yourself, why would he switch up so much on following albums?

Nelly was more of a rappity rap guy before he blew. Singles drove record sales back then, so i would assume his success changed his subject matter.

Soon as u listened to the whole CD you realized Nelly wasn’t gonna be no one hit wonder, which I know a lot of people thought was the case when country grammar (the song) was blowing up:manny:

And everything after that...... I’m sure was influenced a lot by the fact that after CG he was a huge star and his label you would think was the ones who pushed alot of the crossover type stuff he did that made him almost a pop act towards the end of his run....just my 2 cents
