My post from a similar thread in April:

it's actually really :mindblown: when you think about all the ways 3/6 very subtly morphed the entire rap game in their image. I don't even know if they were really trying to, it just kinda happened:

-lex luger comes thru with that :krs: sound that shifts the entire beat landscape, and he's citing them as one of his biggest influences. you could take a lot of 20 year old paul/juice beats, add hi-def drum samples/patterns, and basically have a luger beat (which luger actually did). suddenly all rap sounds like that for a while (drill still does)

-juice sees an opportunity, links up w luger, and all of a sudden he's :win: doing singles w katy perry and getting major endorsements and shyt. didn't i just see a thread asking why cacs love him so much? dude's got white america on lock :smugfavre:

-they probably birthed this entire "druggie era" we're currently in. way ahead of the game w that :salute:

-obviously the migos flow as previously mentioned :whew:

-oh how bout an oscar on top of all that :heh:

legend:wow:

Creepy right?

When you go back and listen to their albums from the 90s and 00s none of the production sounds dated

NONE.

No Limit & Ca$hmoney albums from those same time periods already sound trapped in time with the exception of certain joints... NOTHING

NOTHING from hypnotize minds sounds dated

They were way ahead of their time. It's scary how advanced they were and how they get no credit. Mainstream American hip hop sounds like triple 6 on steroids.

I think they deserve some props for helping push their own sound from the South, do an excellent job of crossing over multiple times (can you feel it...hustle and flow..) while still staying them.

Personally I think Juicy J is a good artist solo as well.

...their Soul Sample:stylin: flip, especially Mr. Hutch is BLACKEXCELLENCE certified:mjcry:

It's crazy it would be Hollyweird's Oscar:devil: to end Hypnotize Mind chapter, tho:demonic:

Its them damn drums. The Paul and Juicy J kit should be retired and hung in rafters. I saw an interview where Paul said he custom made his 808 in 8th grade. Their low end game is on some other shyt.

I've been saying this shyt for years. Hardly anyone recognizes Memphis as the powerhouse it is. So many trends started there; crunk, trap, double time flow, etc.

Even though dudes really knowing their early 90's Memphis history know Paul and juicy stole a whole lot of shyt they're still the ones that really really put the city and style on the map.
Blackballed a gang of local nikkas too. Straight up, only southern producer(s) I might put above them is Mannie. Their contributions will stay overlooked as revisionist will erase them out of history. Damn shame. Mid 90s Memphis sound gave a lot of fukkin dudes their sound
He's not lying breh. He said it on a podcast I can't remember

Most everything has been touched on in here...but i'll add this:

1. RZA + soul samples = Paul & Juicy + horror movie samples

2. Recyclable material. What I mean by that is, you could flip over a new HP camp album
and see a title, and know what the hook might be because it was something you heard Crunchy Black
say in a previous 3-6 song. That is GOAT. Only other people to do that on the reg are EPMD and 40 Water.

3. Academy Award. George Clooney showed them love.

4. Since I'm at work, I won't go find the pic of the white sorority girls with the obscene cake with 3-6 lyrics on it.
Just know that that is a thing.
