about itYouits all entertainment man....no different from watching a good old fashioned gangster movie...all rappers r basically robert deniro - a great actor who can play a gangster role believably and with conviction because they grew up around shyt the source material is based on...majority of rappers r just really good story tellers....the wack shyt is rappers never admit this cuz theres the whole stigma of being "real"....until the get in trouble w the law n all of a sudden its"this is just entertainment"
Once i started looking at drug/gangsta rap as something that should never be taken seriously, i stopped having the moral dilemma that OP has....Nobody cares if rick ross knows the real noriega or if OT genasis is cookin up crack...all that matters is that the shyt is fun as hell to sing along to when ur drunk/high at 3 AM in the club/bar
But you dont understand, its not because I'm in question of their credibility, its because I can't stomach to hear black people bragging about destroying other black people while in pursuit of becoming a consumer of materialistic items.its all entertainment man....no different from watching a good old fashioned gangster movie...all rappers r basically robert deniro - a great actor who can play a gangster role believably and with conviction because they grew up around shyt the source material is based on...majority of rappers r just really good story tellers....the wack shyt is rappers never admit this cuz theres the whole stigma of being "real"....until the get in trouble w the law n all of a sudden its"this is just entertainment"

Like I said, I don't need negativity in my life. I can't control what my government does, but I can control what I do and I have no need for it. I do martial arts, but that violence anywhere else that is based on ignorance, naw I'm cool. It's art breh, it's a distillation of a facet of reality through artist's experience(those who actually lived it).
It's all about balance. If you a kid and all you listen to is gangsta rap, watch action movies, plus your pops is on heroin and gunshots always waking you up at night, you probly gonna grow twisted.
Just enjoy it for what it is and don't define yourself by your musical tastes.
I feel you though, I've thought about this shyt a lot and I'm conflicted... I can close my eyes and see shyt I wish I couldn't, and you can probably see some fukked up shyt on the net/movies that can fukk you up so![]()
You

I have a Gucci scarf on, and I found it on a tram in Vancouver Canada. And these guys are breaking their bank for one.
As I'm getting older (23) I realize that I can do without that negative stuff. If you have music to share then please do. I like people under the stairs, MF doom and a few other people. Getting back into Lupe but his last album I hears was the cool

I agree with you, music does have an influence on the youth, and I'm speaking as one. Most of my styles as a youth have been inspired by rappers.Well, you have a legitimate reason to be concerned. Bc as much as ppl wanna say "it's only music and it doesn't influence the youth" it clearly does have a profound influence and that's a problem bc half of these rappers talking about materialistic things r lying their asses off...and they got young kids out here thinking they're not shyt unless they got on Gucci ...shyts sad

Camron and the purple haze swag
The game, red chucks red tee
50 cent and his G Unit gear
Pharell and the BBC & Bape gear
Wale and his colorful kicks and gear (ca. 100 Miles and Runnin)
Grime MCs (genre originally from London) and their swag.
That's beyond the point. Why would you want to be a consumer, it all seems ignorant. How can people who are ignorant enlighten me? When I appreciate art I should be challenged and enlightened, not dumbed down, if its that easy for me to understand then what am I doing?
you gay, son?
