From what i understand they were made for the outdoors so it makes it harder to hear where the shot came from exactly. I've heard silenced guns being fired (next to me) and they sound exactly the same as if you didn't have it silenced.

it helps with the recoil and quiets the sound. so if you have a struggle finger and bad grip, and wanna murk a person in a small room without hurting your ears, a silencer is right for you.
but it isnt silent.

Gotta be 21 to purchase a handgun or supressor (call it a silencer in a gun shop ) that shyt aint like the movies still gonna be in excess of 100dB. Gotta fill out a form 4 and pay $200 tax for the suppressor. Then wait and wait and wait some more takes about 8 months to a year for the paperwork to clear. .45acp is the best round to suppress due to its low speed its the quietest.

The neighbors will still probably know. Shoot a pistol in a confined space and your ears will be ringin to the point of being deaf. A suppresor would allow you to be able to hear if there is more than one intruder. Won't get a suppresor at a gun show only available from class 3 dealers.

At 18 you can buy a rifle or shotgun. Can't beat a remington 870 12 gauge pump. Can pick one up for <$350 easy. Throw a couple hundred more at it for a pistol grip, 18.5 inch barrel and you have a short maneuverable ideal home defense weapon. Plus they aren't rifle pistol loud so its tolerable without hearing protection.

I got a question?how come more people don't open carry?unless I just don't understand the law in alotta states you don't need a permit and I believe in Missouri where I am you don't need one to open carry....I haven't looked into too much but it seem like its no paperwork involved if the weapon was bought legally so how come you don't see more folks do it?
