Can we take 30 minutes to acknowledge Steamboat/Rude as the GOAT US match?

One of the worst things about the WWE in general is how they dont talk about Rick Rude and Jake the Snake enough. They talk about Cena, Michaels, Cripple H nonstop but real great heels and faces people paid to see? Nah....

Disgusting. Of course nothing was more disgusting than them not acknowledging Macho Man until he died.

a lot of the WWFs feuds, more realistic feuds involved Jake, Savage, and Rude

Rude was so underrated. One of the best heels ever IMO and a great in ring performer. He dragged Warrior to some watchable matches.

That whole Dangerous Alliance period in WCW was some of the best wrestling I ever watched in terms of storytelling and in-ring action.

As for that card in particular I consider the 6man tag with JYD/Tom Zenk/Doink the Clown vs The York FOundation/DDP was the worst match.

ANd Terry Gordy is possibly the most underrated wrestler ever. Dude was a beast in the ring.

He had some absolute classics in Japan tagging with Hansen

Bam bam was extremely underrated

Jesse was the biggest Rude mark lol. Dude fukking LOVED that Rude was from Minnesota, had the body, and was an arm wrestler. One of my favorite things about Jesse was that once he liked a guy, he would still pop for them even if they turned face. Like Bret and Macho.

Jesse gave commentary on those three guys in their career.
that possibly made who they were to people outside of kayfabe as a draw.

Oh very good rant and thread, btw

Rick Rude was so ahead of his time!

The shyt talking, da swag, the awesome move sets. It kinda pisses me off how WWE wrestlers use his finisher "The Rude Awakening" as a regular in match move. Today I'm gonna go find this old WCW magazine with a Rick Rude interview that he did "in character" n put it in this thread, it was

:dead: I thought this thread was about Rude/Steamer having the greatest US TITLE match :heh:

There's way too many piff matches for me to judge to be honest. I find it way harder to rank matches than wrestlers. Rude vs Steamboat is no doubt on a shortlist and worth consideration though.

By the way, we could easily make the argument for Steamboat as the GOAT US worker, no? Like @stro said, you could show someone a Steamboat match and they'll probably immediately get what wrestling is about at a pretty high level. How many workers can we say that about?

You can certainly make that argument. To me, other people made more, in more places and for longer than him but I can't really get upset with anyone having Steamboat as the GOAT.
