Fears are spreading of a genocide in
Aleppo after reports of children being burned alive and civilians executed on the spot.
The rebel-held city fell to the Syrian Army last night as President Bashar
al-Assad's forces moved in.
Early reports suggested that at least one child was burned alive as violent clashes played out.
News service Aleppo24, which describes itself as an independent news source, claimed that the child was burned alive.
There were also reports of civilians being executed by firing squad by the Russian-backed forces.
According to the United Nations, 82 civilians were shot on sight by regime forces.
Spokesman Rupert Colville said: "We're filled with the deepest foreboding for those who remain in this last hellish corner."
He added: "Yesterday evening, we received further deeply disturbing reports that numerous bodies were lying on the streets.
"The residents were unable to retrieve them due to the intense bombardment and their fear of being shot on sight."
British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that continued shelling and targeting by the regime is happening across Aleppo.
There are also unverified reports of mass detentions and arrests, according to the Guardian.
Turkish press agency Anadolu quoted an eyewitness who said that 67 men were killed in two neighbourhoods.
