Paul wall was thought to be black before he made it big, so white still see him as black because paul aint never did no white shyt, Paul has nikka tendacies too
and he married to a sister.
Yeah the same million out there buying all those Paul wall, bubba sparxxx, yelawolf, MGK, Asher Roth, Mac miller albums every time they drop
What do you really know about any of those guys though? Eminem has a "story", not to say that it wasn't at all embellished but once he dropped his major debut, being white AND backed by dre is what got him in the door...what made it stick was the fact that he opened up his life to his fans.
Compare him to the next highest selling rapper of all time and what are the parallels? He and pac both had/have a relationship with his their fans that is a little more in depth than average, people connected with them because the really put bits and pieces of their life on wax and into peoples minds.
The shyt they spoke on resonated with large groups of people, you can say because he's white, or he's dead/controversial...but really it's about the connections.
Paul wall, roth, mgk, mac they are just rappers...not nearly elite talents and nobody knows enough about them to be invested into them once the song goes off.
Macklemore said that shyt because he knows that's what black people wanna hear
Ehh...I won't say that he doesn't agree with his overall point, but he seems like he's pandering to any and every social cause, his whole draw is really disproportionately based on his content over his talent which is odd. He is the "cause" rapper at this point, don't be surprised if this nikka puts out a song about global warming or saving the whales or some shyt.
You can't recreate what Eminem was to the industry, it's a different time, that energy has shifted poles, if there is a shot for them to create another Eminem phenomenon, it's going to have to be anti-Eminem in nature. Thus we go from homophobia and blatant misogyny to "i could draw so good in 3 grade that I thought I was gay".
shyt is extra obvious, and while I have nothing against dude personally I hope he flops, or at least stays in that "independent" gold artist at best lane, god forbid we have to wait around for "da white" savior to come and make hip hop progressive.
