Can we talk about how great GZA's Beneath The Surface is?

This album tends to get overlooked I think because of Supreme Clientele (even though Supreme Clientele came out several months after it) but GZA along with The RZA and his in house production team (Tru Master, John The Baptist, Mathematics, Arabian Knight etc) put some great music together on this album.

Yeah, the only thing I didn't really like was a lot of the interludes. After every other song there was an interlude.

Usually I don't care too much for a lot of guest appearances but it worked on this album and yeah, Mathematics did his thing.

We were used to the linear sound etc..

when the gza announced the dark matter album, it reminded me of this but obviously the concept was set down on earth!!

Genius brought it, the production was dope but not as gritty as its predecessor which threw me off at first. Now dope though, his second best album.

Can make a lil illmatic out of. 1 or 2 joints that are ehh but bout 10 good ones. I really wasnt feeling the song with meth until i out it on recently and saw the beat aged pretty well. Its no shadowboxin but its cool.
