They bodied Watch Dog's out of existence.
Ubisoft already upped the budget to 50M and delayed it to focus on next gen. And there's news Rockstar wants to re-release GTA V on next gen too :wow: and they might wait to fukk Ubisoft again since Rockstar gives no fukks and they prolly already have GTA V next gen ready to release :lupe:

I don't think Watch Dogs' delay had anything to do with GTA

It did, but not in the way most people think. GTA V's success didn't scare of Ubisoft, it was the failure that was the GTA Online launch. Watch Dogs is going to be big on multiplayer and integrated online components, so it has to run smooth from the start. Ubisoft can't afford server issues, game-breaking glitches or any other stuff because otherwise the entire game will fail and unlike a game series as strong as GTA, it wouldn't be able to survive the backlash. Instead it would be dead in the water.

The same goes for Drive Club, which I suspect was pushed back for similar reasons since it also has a big online aspect.

Basically, GTA Online being as big a clusterfukk as it was, had all these companies reevaluate if their games could make it through some shyt like that, and concluded "No, we fukking wouldn't".

Breh, GTA broke all sales records. Nikkas were fiendin, and they were SMART as fukk delaying online, cause nikkas kept buying :heh: way before that online dropped.

Which is great because I'm tired of these games dropping with broken online components that need 10 patches in the first 3 months. GTA Online was/is pretty much a fukking beta. Seen some decent games just completely fall off and lose support because the online had glitches and bugs that weren't addressed properly, that shouldn't have made it past beta testing(if there even was beta testing).

so they were planning on releasing a game with broken online, until they saw how that went with GTA V? seems you could just say the game wasn't ready, and leave GTA out of it. it's not like GTA was the first online game to have server issues. SimCity was even worse since it's issues kept people from being able to play the game at all

I've read it wasn't doing good in the mock reviews so they pushed it back for more polish since Ubi likes their +90 Metacritic scores.

No, I think they realized how easy it is to underestimate the problems they could run into (I doubt Rockstar planned on releasing a broken online mode) and given the importance of Watch Dogs to Ubi, they didn't want to risk any unforeseen fukk-ups.

And GTA's problems weren't just server issues, there were tons of glitches and exploits, many of which still aren't fixed.
