this thread gets made every year and it always happens after the LSU v. Alabama game
or after other conferences big games end with scores like K State v. Okie State or that Oregon v. USC game with some comically bad defense to go along with their offenses

this is thing I don't get...let's say you only believe those three teams are contenders
that's still 3 contenders in one conference and the conference is over hyped?
what other conference has three National Championship contenders this year?...what other conference is doing that?
Pac-12....Oregon and.....who?
Big 12...K-State and....who?
ACC...Florida State and....who?
Big 10...Ohio State (ineligible) and...who?
see how the overrated logic makes no sense...3 contenders and no other conference has more than one...and you didn't mention Georgia who's likely to be ranked higher than Florida and LSU in the new BCS
As ive said before, Beat them in the Natl title game and you never have to hear About the sec again

i understand your point, but i don't think you get what i'm saying. i realize every conference only has like 1 or 2 title contenders, but you rarely see teams who beat absolutely nobody get so much hype just because of conference affiliation. you have to actually beat somebody, but not in the SEC though. miss state was on the cusp off the top 10 for beating no one, then got drove 2 weeks in a row against real competition. losing is one thing, but them nikkas weren't even competitive and you won't me to believe they were the 12th best team in the country?? tennessee was in they have yet to win a game in conference, but were in top 25 this year after 2 game against NC state and georgia southern. really?? that's what i'm talking about. how the fukk does a team beat an average wolfpack team and an FCS opponent become a top 25 team?? conference affiliation, that's how.
This logic is still flawed, There are teams from other conferences that get hyped up before they play anyone.

i'm talking about consistency over the long haul. until last year, south carolina hadn't won more than 10 games in a season since the '60s and georgia hasn't been a threat to win a title since hershel walker left for the USFL in the '80s. and i really don't see either of those teams having what it takes to win a title. both have ugly wins and even uglier losses.
just because it happens sporadically in other conferences doesn't negate the fact that its the norm in the SEC year in and year out.

Seeing a 2 loss LSU above us drives me fukking insane!!!
1. Everybody expects us to win the Big East, the main reason for the rankings bump.
2. We have one of the best quarterbacks in the nation with Teddy Bridgewater.
3. We returned tons of folks from the young team that went 7-6 last year.
I'd say that we have absolutely earned our ranking.
We were "hyped" for 3 reasons:
1. Everybody expects us to win the Big East, the main reason for the rankings bump.
2. We have one of the best quarterbacks in the nation with Teddy Bridgewater.
3. We returned tons of folks from the young team that went 7-6 last year.
I'd say that we have absolutely earned our ranking.

It's NOT the norm year in and year out. EVERYBODY, including fans that root for a team in the SEC, know that last year the SEC was down overall. But still, what's the better conference?
