Can you be a rap fan if you don't enjoy 90s hip-hop?

the basic rap fan never gave a real fukk past the gateway pop commercial artist.
most rap fans are not apart of hiphop to care about the cultural based music.
just like reggae,..most people like standard dance hall, and don't really deal with roots reggae at all.

"I can't listen to just bars" ATCQ is not a "bars" group. It's a vibey/jazzy hip hop group.
"I can't listen to just rapping, needs melody"...R&B or pop is what you like. You like hard edged R&B or "trap singing".
Hip hop is BASED UPON spitting over breaks and loops...it gained traction and expanded into other territory.
Other territory is good. I like new music...a lot more than other admitted backpackers.
Still, nikka...You're not a hip hop fan or a hip hop head...you are an "urban music consumer".
