So are you saying no school is necessary for this?

How does someone go about get the certificates? Is there books I buy, a test or something?

For most certs. The price you pay to take the test includes a book. If you think you can study on your own and pass the test than you need no school. But there are classes you can take that help you pass the tests.

You gotta have a love for programming, its tedious. I wouldnt want to do it full time.
Its hard as hell for me unless Im smoking :yeshrug: goodluck tho breh.

Is a programmer full time and enjoy it. Understanding the word problem at hand helps and so does having good problem solving skills. This coupled with being intimate with language you are working in will make you unstoppable. Check my response below

fukk programming for a living. i've taken a good 4-5 programming classes now and this is the most frustrating shyt on earth. cuz u can have all ur code right in theory, but one typo can fukk the whole shyt up. and spending hours to find something like that will make u crazy sometimes

It gets better with time. After coding for 12 years I still occasionally put a ; behind an if statement and then wonder why that block wasnt executing it happens to the best of us.

Like get a real good job, i dont wanna go to a university and be 40 thou in debt.

Preferably being on a game development team.

Help desk is in your future nikka. You gotta pay to play. Scared money dont make none. Check out salary.com what entry level nikka is making in your area anything dealing with Engineer is gonna cost there isnt an if ands or buts about it.

Experience + certs is good. Certs only just say you are a great test taker...

put it this way...you will hit a celing

Yeah, your correct about that. If your not lucky like my boss. I already figured out I need to go back to school if I want to continue to move up. I'm only 27 but most of the people I work with are 50+ sometimes I wonder why they are content with working where they are instead of trying to move up.

If you can learn how to program your ass off...you'll be fine. In programming, the degree is secondary. It's all about how many relevant languages you know and if you know how to program.

Learn as many relevant languages as you can. Also look at the jobs that are out there now and look at what languages they require.

Even tho programmers get paid, its not worth the headache, trying to debug your program. Also, your going to need to know more than one language to make yourself marketable.

fukk Java and C++
