If you combine album releases and when that album hype died down. It was a slow death that lasted from 2002 to 2006.

-TLC was done after Lefteye died and their last big album in 2002.
-Boyz II Men released their final album on a big label in 2002 and it didn't have much success.
-Dru Hill released their last "big "album in late 2002. That album hype died down by 2003.
-B2K had broken up by 2004.
-New Edition put out their final album on a big label with Puffy in late 2004 and that flamed out very quickly.
-112 was done after that album in 2005. After they left Puffy in 2002, they started to go down, but they still managed to have a few hits.
-Jagged Edge was done by 2006.
-Destiny's Child was done by 2006.

R&b is not dead. It just doesn't get the machine push that it used to.

Gregory porter
H.e.r
Summer Walker
Queen naija
6lack
Bryson tiller
Ella mai

Are a few that I consistently listen to who has put out good r&b music and their albums are quality. It's a lot more too

The only thing is, the machine is not turning anymore of these soulful r&b folks into stars like they used to in the 80s and 90s. But honestly who cares what mainstream feels. If you love music you have to search out for who got quality material. That's what I do. I dont wait until the radio and tv shows tell me who hot. I like how things are nice underground feel to it and it keeps those artist hungry and raw in what they produce. If mainstream gets too involved r&b will turn back to the halftime pop show.

:scust:at that list rnb def dead and as far as groups I would say day 26 was the last group really poppin so 2007 was the extinction year for me

Yeah around 2004-2005 to me. B2K/Pretty Ricky was the last popular group. But if you wanna say 03 with the end of Destinys Child, I wouldn't disagree.
I think this is the right answer. No group has had a large impact since Destiny Fulfilled in 04'.

They're legitimate soul singers though.

They just happened to have a Hip-Hop "attitude"

They were using Hip Hop drums and rapping. Babyface, Toni Braxton, Mariah and Guy were the biggest representatives of R&B to the new crowd around that same time....R Kelly and Mary were the first ones who switched it up from the R&B tradition....Actually Teddy Riley was the first to really bring the hip hop elements to R&B then BBD right after......but it was R Kelly and Mary who really set it off....Wasnt no Trey Songz and Chris Brown

I'll wait for your response a 2 am like always :russ:
