Can you smell when someone’s been drinking?

I googled it and the answer was yes but I don’t ever remember being able to smell it from someone speaking or body odor from being close to them. Can you?

typically only if they are really bad, like lifelong alcoholic or just got done drinking something very fragrant like beer or rum

also, people who always smell like listerine are suspect

you probably smelled it and just didn't put the two together.

especially beer (but liquor too) as others have said…you’ll smell it on clothes if you spilled some while drinking, on your breath and/or thru your pores as others have mentioned

Its not an alcohol smell...its just different
