I was thinking about shaving off all my facial hair and starting over. I've only been clean shaven once in my life since puberty, and it was accompanied by a bald head so I'm not sure what I'd look like.
I started floating the idea with a few trusted advisers, and with the exception of my mother who told me I'd look handsome not matter what, I got the same response every time:
you can't trust a black man without facial hair
I had heard this before as a kid, and the topic had been brought up in a Boondocks strip, but now that I was about to make this huge life decision, I made a tally of black men without facial hair and reached a disturbing conclusion:
DUMBED DOWN FOR HIS AUDIENCE TO DOUBLE HIS DOLLARS
DESTROYING THE BLACK COMMUNITY, ONE FILM AT A TIME
CONSPIRED TO KILL THE GOOD BROTHER EL-HAJJ MALIK EL-SHABAZZ (BKA MALCOLM X)
HAS AIDS
POLITICIAN, SECRET MUSLIM
should I join their ranks
, and work to break barriers for clean-shaven brothers?
or will my facial hair removal mark the beginning of a life absent of morals?
