It's kind of weird for them to be trying to file for asylum.

By definition you have to be persecuted by a government to be eligible. And their country doesn't have a government anymore . I would imagine all of their claims are going to be denied. contrary to popular opinion, just having a shytty country is not grounds for asylum.

Personally I'm of the opinion that the best move for the Haitians is to go back to Francophone Africa. I think it would be easier for them to integrate into a French speaking place like Ivory Coast or Senegal. Economically speaking and politically speaking , both countries are more stable than their own. And they would probably be more likely to take them in than America or Canada. Lord knows the Latin American countries don't want them.

The main airport in Haiti has been seized by gangs. There is no mechanism to send them back.
If I was in their shoes I’d continue trying my damndest to make it in USA and live under the radar…. If not USA I’d shoot to Europe somehow.

What the Biden administration was doing is letting almost everyone apply for asylum. Knowing it would take years or a decade due to the backlog in court cases. In the meanwhile they'll be given work permits and allowed to stay for years. Most don't even bother to leave after their cases are heard and being denied asylum. It's all a big scam by liberal governments to lower wages and create new social welfare programs.

They cancelled TPS for more than 600k Venezuelans
But their work permits don't expire till October 2026 and their IDs are valid
Why should they leave?
ICE is still trying to detain and deport them

The whole system is broken

The Venezuelans TPS was extended by a judge I believe. The Trump administration doesn't want any asylum cases making it to court. That's why they've fired so many immigration judges.

The immigration system is broken because both political parties want it that way. There is no money to be made in a working immigration system.

Nope, their TPS has ended

Biden had 4 years to fix the system but he couldn't
Ran on the promise to help the long-term undocumented get legal status but chose to bring in hundreds of thousands of migrants instead, and blessed them with vouchers and work permits
