Was this some type of recall? I don't really understand Canadian politics, a lot different from American politics.

Explain to me like I'm stupid. I know Trudeau had just been reelected in 2019. So what was this election?

And explain the parties to me too, why they're saying he won but he didn't win.

He wanted a majority government, but it is a return to the same old because there was a minority government before the election and after it.

Liberals didn't achieve enough seats to reach a majority government. In this case when any party cannot reach the number of seats needed, a minority government is formed. In this case more bills are passed that are represented by the population (in theory) vs a majority holding.

So if the Liberals want to ensure bills get through they form alliances with other parties. These governments usually dissolve within 3 years for us to vote and get a majority in so they can rule without opposition. And then we spend those years erasing everything the minority government put forth.

That sounds reductive, especially the last paragraph. Still, better than a 2 Party system.

Primarily the reason why Canada doesn't stand out in anything. There's countries out there that does things better than us in all facets.

I think we've had 7 of these in the last 15, 20 years.

Has to be different because he mentioned forming alliances with others, which at least implies that there are other players.

What good is it when little to no one is voting 3rd or 4th party? We have like 7 parties, but, except for Liberals and Conservatives, neither parties don't have that much power.
