when you get an opportunity to watch the crawford/canelo fight again you will notice that canelo would only throw one left hook at a time or one right hand at a time. no jabs and he'd load up real big. just a left hook or just a right hand. he'd miss with the left hook walk around then miss with his right hand. i have to think floyd would have really punished a version of canelo that was doing that.

I think it's weight dependent. Floyd at 135 would be hell for Bud at 135. But Bud at 147 would beat Floyd at 147. Bud just a bigger guy and his power at 147 is not properly respected. People should now be looking at what he did at 147 with the hindsight that we seen this dude at 168 hold his own with a 168 Canelo. Those PBC fighters held Bud's career back a lot. He probably would be ruling 160 right now if he coulda got the Spence fight out the way sooner.
Out the way? He was in the car accident and came back a year later. And he was never fighting Spence until Spenve got the belts since Porter didn't fight Crawford nor did Thurman.

Crawford vs Canelo was more of a fight. Crawford was obviously superior but it was a legit scrap.

Floyd vs Canelo was like watching someone playing on them playscool basketball hoops with their 6 year old nephew.

Again styles male fights though. Nobody is going to beat Floyd counter punching and thinking before they throw so someone like Canelo will always look worse vs Floyd. Same with Marquez and a lesser extent Pacquiao.

While Bud will look better vs guys like Maidana and Castillo because those guys didn’t let Floyd think and Bud is can bang to make those guys think twice from coming in.

I think Bud and Floyd are the same level of fighter but Floyd’s resume and peak are just so far and away better that comparing isn’t really fair. Not totally Buds fault as boxing isn’t what it was even 20 years ago.

He was a pup then. You can't compare him to the fighter he is now. Even though he's past his prime now he's still better than the 22 year old version of himself

Like if you take the blinders off what makes Mayweather a better fighter than Crawford? Because of his defensive wizardry?

Crawford is a much more complete fighter who can play defense with his defense AND his offense. A much better athlete with ten times the power.

If they were to fight at their peaks i'd have a hard time seeing how Floyd would win. He'd have to resort the dirty tricks and have the judges and refs on deck.

Crawford just has too many attributes to lose a fight.

Canelo Alvarez was 23 years old with 43 professional fights when he lost to Floyd Mayweather (who was 45-0 )and out of his prime at the age of 36.......yet somehow Canelo was too young and inexperienced. Meanwhile at 21 years old, Mike Tyson beat the crap out of Larry Holmes. The spin is amazing.

Different Canelos, different eras.

This is the most logical answer. The versions of Canelo are just different. Assuming the 35 year old version is the more effective fighter than his 23 year counterpart is silly considering Canelo hasn’t really looked impressive in years. It’s just been one bs fight after another.

The only reason anybody may have been hesitant about picking Crawford was just based on the weight.

Floyd fought a younger more energetic version of Canelo while Crawford fought an older, yet seasoned versioned of Canelo. It really doesn’t matter because Canelo struggles with boxers at any age.

Floyd would've never fought a nikka like Bud either
What niqqas was like Bud in Floyd’s era? None. There only one Bud.
Facts. Floyd was all about "smart investments" and would've ducked Crawford.
Who did Floyd duck? Please don’t say Pac Man, that’s been proven wrong. Please don’t say prime Shane, that’s been proven wrong. Please don’t say Cotto, that’s been proven wrong. Please don’t say the all time great in Antonio Margarito, that’s dumb. So who is this Crawford type fighter he ducked?

I mean it's a fair question for Canelo since he fought the two so he can have an opinion, but as a boxing fan a better argument can be made for them being the best of their eras.

If anything I would have liked to see Bud versus Pacquia more than Bud versus Floyd.
