Not including Canibus on any Top 10 list "based on lyricism" is PRETENTIOUS...
Especially, when Lyrical Lames use the qualifier "technically"...For example, you will see a thread titled "List Your Top 10 Technically Superior Lyricists"....And no one will list Canibus...
But it is only right, because "lyricism," "song writing" and etc are 100% subjective...We can't really debate opinions that are based on emotions...
But if we define "lyricism" as the use of the English language to express complex ideas, feelings and emotions(because we are in English speaking countries) then I don't think that any rapper, who has ever sold over 100K, can say that they are better than Canibus...

the funniest thing was the video you see now on youtube was edited. There was a thread on thecoli with someone streaming the battle live...there was actually periods of like 1:30-2:00 minutes of silence and canibus swaying back and forth with them sunglasses on and him staring and grinning at dizaster and people in the crowd like

How many hit songs does Dizaster have? Canibus has atleast 1. How many dope albums does Dizaster have?? Canibus has at the least 3. Can u even name 2 Dizaster songs?? Canibus destroyed himself in that battle.....If it was Math or Hollow Da Don the outcome woulda been the same....You are putting to much empesis on Dizaster as if his body of work has more merit. (1) Hip Hop battles are a joke to me, because the best comedian ALWAYS wins...Case in point, Sirius Jones DEFECATING on Jin, and putting him on an indefinite hiatus...hahaha...Even though, I would say Jin was the better rapper...
(2) I don't need a scenic "sonic landscape" to enjoy Canibus' music...He is the ONLY rapper I can listen to even if he was rhyming over a beat made by a 7 year old who just learned how to a song on the piano...
Canibus' words speak for themselves...Dude has heavy bars, abstract thought patterns, introspection, vocabulary, and he talks about all issues...
(3) I am not trying to convince you that Canibus is dope, but if you don't think he is dope, then I am not convince who ever you have above Canibus (if his name is not 2Pac) is better than Canibus...That's all I am saying...
In summary,
If Canibus is not in your top 10, and you are basing your top 10 on "lyricism" then whoever are on your top 10, not named 2Pac, are probably rappers that I have never bothered listening to...
