Canibus notepad battle was Bis's attempt to sabotage a battle he didn't want to do due to a payment dispute according to M-Eighty

It's full of eyepopping anecdotes, some of which might be true.

The financial stuff is convoluted and hard to understand (I'm poor and bad with money), but from what I can tell, M-Eighty and Canibus were offered $10000 to battle for a battle company called Fresh Coast. At this point in his career, Bis was mostly getting $10k-40k album advances, $1-3k for concerts and $1-5k for features, so 80 thought $10k was a good amount, but Bis insisted on negotiating the amount up to $100k. Eventually Fresh Coast settled on $75000 plus a percentage of all KOTD ticket sales and merchandise, but decided he would battle Dizaster. Fresh Coast delivered a few payments on schedule, then started sending excuses for why they didn't have the money:

I think my favorite excuse that actually had me trying to somehow rectify this situation rather than just have Canibus skate with the initial deposit and tell the world the battle was off was when Lush and Christian called me on a conference call and introduced me to Dizaster who explained to me that he was the one who in fact put up the initial 10k deposit to secure the Canibus battle and he had borrowed the money from some gangsters...

Bis got pissed off and told 80 that he wouldn't be battling, at which point they got an email from KOTD claiming that they were not affiliated with Fresh Coast, Fresh Coast did not have the right to use their name (even though they'd uploaded videos to their official YouTube channel), but offered to draw Bis a new contract. After this, Bis was being offered a significantly reduced $40k. Bis was mentally checked out of the battle and concentrating on touring Canada, during which a few events happened that convinced Bis that "Matrix style agents" were out to get him, before he got jailed due to a discrepancy with his citizenship at the Canadian border. Days before the battle was due to go ahead, Bis was unprepared, traumatised, and physically injured (in a sling and with stitches on his head) due to something that happened to him in jail which he didn't talk about. M-Eighty realised that he couldn't cancel the battle without paying a $20k penalty which they suddenly badly needed to pay for Canibus's legal and medical fees, but that they already had almost all of the money they were owed for the battle barring a last $5k. Knowing Bis was unprepared, 80 told him that if he forgot his lyrics, he should just rap lyrics from "Cap'n Cold Crush", but Bis was totally confident, even forcing KOTD to change the format of the battle at the last moment so all rounds were unlimited.

Unfortunately, at that moment, the Fresh Coast guys open the KOTD event, proving in Bis's mind that Fresh Coast and KOTD are affiliated after all and they'd just screwed him out of a ton of money, which causes him to crack. Bis loses the first round to Diz, appears to rally a little in the second round (in which he raps about his border patrol incident and medical bills), and then, instead of going for a kill or even just performing old lyrics, announces in the third round that he's conceding the battle to Diz but that he would like to read "30 pages of rhymes" from his notepad.

Amidst his yells and raps from the notepad for the better part of 5 minutes, my phone began to blow up with text messages from Avi, VP of KOTD, back in Canada who was watching via Ustream. Text after text, โ€œWhat is Canibus doing?,โ€ โ€œGo to the office immediately and call me,โ€ โ€œThis is ridiculous and we will not be paying you guys the balance owed,โ€ โ€œWTF!!!!,โ€ etc., etc., etc.

80 claims that for the final payment, Fresh Coast/KOTD forced Canibus to sign an NDA preventing him from talking about the notepad battle so they could use it to market themselves.

80 claims he made a tidy sum of money selling replicas of the infamous notebook, "Tom Cruise's Mom's Shoes" tshirts, and then Bis sold the original notebook to a collector on Instagram. But the sale doesn't end there -- he is also promising to sell Canibus's masters:

No bullshyt, any Canibus fan reading this that wants to own one of three or four Canibus album masters owned by Holy Toledo Productions and other 3rd party affiliates, DM me on Instagram. Will gladly sell you the royalty rights to a Canibus album whereby you get paid for a lifetime for the low low.

I wouldn't put it past Bis, but at the same time, I take everything M80 says with a grain of salt, especially after him and Bis had that public spat some time ago.
