Off bars alone he won

A good rap battle is not only bars. The group Slaughterhouse will hit you with bars consecutively, nonstop every track. But the albums are damn near impossible to listen to straight through.

LL had bars, flow, punches, and jokes.
The ripper strikes back was a more well rounded track.
I think Canibus could have won, but he was blackballed after that.

Obviously Canibus won. 2nd round KO is one of the greatest diss tracks of all time. Ripper strikes back was fire but it’s not in that conversation. LL got bodied by Kool Moe Dee too. But he is regarded the winner in both because his career kept going forward while his opponents fizzled out. That’s the only reason he’s considered the winner in both battles. For Canibus his career went where it was destined to go anyway

2nd round knockout is famous for getting his career ended. It's like the good ass chin punch that makes everyone say "oooooooh"! And we remember it because the bully proceeds to give the beat down of the school year

Canibus prove he was elite on guest spots. On his own, it highlighted, his songwriting wasn't elite. In 1998, if Canibus put out 10 song album with guest spots from rap's elite regardless of who produced it, it probably would've been a classic album. It would've elevated the "did you hear what he just did to (insert your favorite rapper)" aura he had going.
