He came out pretty hot and had a decent start but was too one dimensional as a songwriter and MC and became a charicature of himself when it was all said and done.

It's funny you started this thread though because I was just thinking about Bis because of his line about Biggie "Greatest Rapper of all time died on March 9th"

Because he can’t actually write songs which is kinda important.

That first album was buns and that was the end of his chapter
He was great as a guest verse or on a mixtape freestyle but he never really evolved beyond rhymes taking about how nice he was on the mic and trying to construct the most intricate word play humanly possible. Some of what he did was pretty dope lyrically speaking but a lot of it honestly lacked substance and meaning.

This is why Willie D's video was right whether people want to admit it or not....

You definitely have to be nice to be in a top 10-20 but being super lyrical miracle and that's it, after a certain point, brings back diminishing returns. There's a very very niche market that's trying to hear that BS for a whole album.

Also it's a perfect example of the fact that even the people who CLAIM to prioritize lyrical miracle rappity rap aren't being honest. If they were they wouldn't constantly say shyt like "Canibus was spitting but the album had wack beats that ruined it." They're admitting their worldview isn't even consistent yet 5 minutes later will go back to arguing such and such's album would be better if every song sounded like some random radio freestyle they did ten years ago.

Good albums are the product of multiple things going right: good raps, good songwriting, good beats, etc. Sure there are Eminem fans who only want "good raps" (lol...) and genuinely don't give a fukk about anything else. But for every 1 of those there are 10 normal brained fans who don't want to hear a bunch of bad beats and terrible hooks just because a dude is rapping nice.
