Just to clear it up for everybody, MJ chose not to settle that first case. He wanted to go to trial. He was advised not to for 2 reasons: he would be pleading his criminal with the same evidence as his civil case, which the the defense could plan against. Also, he would have been sued for canceling so many tour dates.

Also, he personally did not pay any money to settle the case. His insurance paid the money. That man was innocent.

Actually..it's because they had photographs of him. The police took pictures of Jackson as a part of a strip search. Jackson paid for the settlement, not insurance. His defense attorney advised him to settle because the underage boys description of Jackson's genitals matched the photos taken by the police.

Thats false. The photos did not match Jordie Chandler's description at all. The autopsy also confirm Chandler's description to be false. MJ was forced to settle by his legal team because MJ wanted a criminal trial, but the Chandlers wanted a civil trial. Is he presented his case in the civil, they'd know how to fight against it in the criminal trial. Again, MJ did not pay any of his own money to settle the case. His insurance paid.
